Why donate?
The state party always needs to raise additional funds for special projects. These include:
- Petitioning for state-wide ballot access. We always have to hire paid petitioners to augment the signatures that our volunteers collect.
- Special advertising projects.
- Special outreach projects.
- Our state party Convention, in those years when we put on a major event.

Why do we use PayPal?
According to PayPal's (About page),
they have over 153 million members, are the world's largest Internet-based payment network, and have more
Internet traffic in the financial services category than Citibank, Wells Fargo and Bank of America
combined. PayPal allows us a secure, simple, efficient way to accept payments from your credit card or
checking account with minimal fees. Aside from being a complicated financial process, clearing our own
credit cards is very expensive. Both the bank and the clearing house charge a fee for every transaction.
Fees for "cardholder not present" transactions are even higher because of the greater
possibility for fraud. PayPal charges us 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction, with no monthly and no setup
fees. This is significantly less expensive than clearing credit cards ourselves.
One drawback, especially to privacy-loving libertarians, is that to donate to us via PayPal you must
create an account with them and register a credit card or checking account. The process is simple, secure
(via SSL) and completely free. There is never a service charge to you to donate or be a PayPal member!
The Libertarian Party of Connecticut feels that this is the best option we have to accept credit cards
and electronic payments. It does require you to have an email address and access to a computer with an
Internet browser. (Personal note from the Membership Director: I've used PayPal numerous times with no
problems. One of EBay's standard payment methods is via PayPal.) If you're not currently a PayPal member,
you can sign up during the donation process.

the only political party that will not compromise on its commitment to the
