New Milford, CT -- The Libertarian Party of Connecticut is forming a local affiliate in the Housatonic Valley to serve the towns of New Milford, Danbury, Brookfield and surrounding areas.

Austin Shackelford, a New Milford resident and member of the Libertarian Party, has started organizing libertarians from around the Greater Danbury area to join the Housatonic Valley affiliate of the Libertarian Party. The first “Meet & Greet” event will be held at Dagwoods New American Lounge in New Milford on Saturday, January 25^th from 1pm-4pm and is open to the public.

The purpose of the Housatonic Valley LP affiliate is to affect positive political change by finding, running and electing Libertarian candidates to local town/city offices who will work to defend civil liberties, increase our personal freedoms and limit the size and scope of government.

The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States and already has local Connecticut affiliates in Windham county, Norwich, Glastonbury, Meriden, Branford, Fairfield County and the Naugatuck Valley.
