Volunteer with the Libertarian Party of Connecticut

Get involved in a way that fits your time, interests, and comfort level.

The Libertarian Party of Connecticut is a volunteer-driven organization. We don’t rely on corporate donors or political machines — we rely on people.

Volunteering doesn’t mean quitting your job or becoming a full-time activist. It means helping where you can, when you can, in ways that actually make a difference.

Whether you’re new to politics or have been involved before, there’s a role for you here.

Ways to Get Involved

Help at Events

Events are how people discover us and connect locally. Volunteers help with setup, check-in, outreach, and conversations with attendees.

  • Tabling at fairs and community events
  • Meet-and-greet gatherings and forums
  • Candidate and issue-focused events

Ballot Access & Signature Drives

Connecticut’s ballot access laws make it difficult for new voices to compete. Volunteers are essential to ensuring Libertarian candidates appear on the ballot.

  • Collecting petition signatures
  • Assisting with compliance and documentation
  • Supporting candidates during filing periods

No experience required — we provide guidance and support.

Community Outreach & Door Knocking

Real conversations still matter. Volunteers help talk with neighbors about local issues, candidates, and policy ideas.

  • Door-to-door canvassing
  • Literature distribution
  • Voter education and issue outreach

You choose how much you want to do — from a single afternoon to ongoing involvement.

Digital & Behind-the-Scenes Support

Not all volunteering happens in public. Many critical roles can be done remotely or behind the scenes.

  • Social media and content support
  • Research and issue tracking
  • Graphic design, writing, or web help
  • Data entry and administrative support

Local Organizing & Leadership

Strong local organizations are the foundation of long-term success. Volunteers help build and sustain local affiliates across Connecticut.

  • Helping start or grow local Libertarian groups
  • Coordinating meetings and outreach
  • Supporting candidates and local initiatives

Leadership opportunities grow naturally from involvement — not insider politics.

Run for Office or Support a Candidate

You don’t need to be a career politician to run for office. Libertarians believe regular people should represent their communities.

  • Exploring a potential run for local or state office
  • Helping candidates with outreach and logistics
  • Learning what it takes to run a compliant campaign in Connecticut

If you’re curious but unsure, we’re happy to talk — no pressure.

You Decide Your Level of Involvement

Some volunteers help once or twice a year. Others get deeply involved over time.

Both matter.

We respect your time, your boundaries, and your reasons for getting involved. You will never be pressured to do more than you’re comfortable with.
